Talk's title: Standardized Assessment of Energy Balance Using Metabolic Chambers
Dr. Shijia Pan is a Principal Investigator and Associate Director at the Digital Metabolism Research Center, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cambridge (UK). Her research program is dedicated to identifying novel therapeutic targets for obesity and type 2 diabetes by unraveling the complex mechanisms regulating whole-body energy balance. A core mission of her team is to advance metabolic phenotyping technologies. She leads China's leading metabolic phenotyping platform with 10 human metabolic chambers, supporting cross-species research from small animals to humans. Dr. Pan has published her work in top-tier journals including Cell Metabolism (2025), American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2025) and JAMA Network Open (2023), and serves as a reviewer for multiple international peer-reviewed publications.
